Happy Star Wars day! (as in May the fourth be with you.... too witty for me to have come up with it, I assure you). I don't know yet how I am going to celebrate, but rest assured that the holiday will be recognized.
Also, I was very recently featured in a great little magazine called Babiekins. The whole magazine is online and it is really great! The photography and styling are lovely and I'm really happy to have been included. Check me out around page 270!

The time sure is flying... school is almost over and the summer is so close! Things are getting pretty busy at the greenhouse and I certainly have the garden bug in me at the moment as well, I'm also very envious of those with a yard! The best I can do is an potted herb garden and my houseplants. I can't wait until I can plant perennials!
Yesterday was the annual Lawrence Art in the Park fair downtown. I was sadly working throughout all of it, but I hopped over there afterward and saw some of the booths while they were closing shop. Next year I'll hopefully have a table there myself!
I'm going to keep it short for now so I can hit the sack. Soon I'm hoping to update with everything I made in my sewing class and some of the things I worked on in pattern drafting. Having more time to do things will be so so so nice.
In closing, I found a great Tumblr blog that is entirely filled by various animals with Tom Hanks heads Photoshopped onto them. Here is one of my favorites!

I have been chugging away on my first pattern drafting project today, with a bit of a break to go to a KU music department jazz show downtown (which was faaantastic!) Then I enjoyed a glass of chocolate milk and some relaxing music... I'm looking forward to crawling into my bed.
Not before telling you about a great post from one of the blogs I read, Eighteenth Century Agrarian Business. This lovely lady just gave a tutorial on some super simple window shades that I can't wait to use... if only we didn't have ugly mini-blinds in our apartment! They just use dowel rods, hooks from the hardware store and hook and eyes. So easy.
Check it out HERE and be happy!

Every year my school has an event called JCCC's Night at the Nelson, where they reserve the Nelson-Atkins art museum for JCCC students and various arts and humanities professors lecture on select pieces of art. It is fantastic! This year I went with a couple of friends and was able to hear a lecture from my old Classical Mythology teacher, Dr. Michael Robertson, whom I really enjoyed (how many professors can teach you ancient Greek?) I didn't get a good picture of him though, so the one I have below is of Larry Thomas, one of the fine arts professors.
Afterward we stopped at Winsteads to enjoy some cherry milkshakes. Yum.

What happens when I ignore Etsy for a week? I get featured in two treasuries and the Storque! Thanks Etsy for including me in the most recent "Keep it Weird" blog post! Here are the treasuries...
I hope everyone had a lovely April 1st!

I had a good spring break. A good portion of it was spent sewing, and kite flying, and CP (crock pot) bbq chicken eating. My friend Mary and I sewed up our own kites and while it was fun, they didn't ever really get too high. We think they might be too heavy, so I'm going to get some lighter dowel rods and see if that helps.
This weekend is the first one I am working at the greenhouse, so I'm going to be a crazy busy woman until school get's out. On the plus side, I bought a couple cute biodegradable pots and some pansies. I didn't think I liked pansies, but they have grown on me. Once everything starts to bloom I'm going to be so happy there I think.
Also, my DNA card was recently featured in Que Interesante! Take a look!

On Thursday the weather is supposed to be absolutely perfect for kite flying, so I'm finally getting around to making a kite that's been on my list for a couple of years. It is using this tutorial and I'm thankful for any excuse to use up my scrap fabric. When I got my dowel rods I went ahead and bought enough for two kites so a friend can join me! I'm very excited about this prospect. I haven't been kite flying for quite some time.
Speaking of scrap fabric, how cool would it be to have this lovely vintage piece around? I have had this fabric in my favorites for quite some time and while I have no idea what I would do with it, (I would probably be too terrified to even cut into it) I think it looks amazing. Check it out here!
